Dr. Lynlee Wessels prides the Animal Wellness Center, located at 5750 W Industrial Drive in Monee, with offering a full-service veterinary care facility which provides comprehensive care for cats and dogs.

After obtaining her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from University of Illinois, Dr. Wessels realized that there was a need for pet medical care in Monee. To satisfy this demand, she established the Animal Wellness Center in 2004, and has now been in business for 20 years.

The clinic offers not only a canine exam room equipped for treatments, blood draws, and teeth cleaning, but also utilizes positive and negative pressure environments to minimize exposure to contagions. A highly particular staff, digital X-rays, and state-of-the-art equipment reflect Dr. Wessels' dedication to providing only the best care for our furry friends.

As the only family-owned practice in the area, the clinic emphasizes the importance of full medical transparency, with windows allowing clients access to observe procedures in an effort to break the stigma and anxiety of the “back room”.

In addition to standard pet healthcare, the center also offers cat and dog boarding, ensuring pets receive care even while their owners are away. On occasion, the center hosts puppy classes and trick training sessions to foster bonds between pets and their owners, aiming to strengthen those relationships. The center also provides many opportunities for dogs to engage in outdoor activities with staff, making boarding experiences more enjoyable for the animal.

Having been a Monee resident for most of her adult life, Dr. Wessels has a deep love for the community. She actively participates in local events, sponsoring children's movies, and events like Pooch-a-Palooza. Further, she supports Monee through initiatives like pet food drives, recognizing the challenges faced by some residents in affording pet care.

Dr. Wessels extends her commitment to community welfare beyond Monee by volunteering with the National Street Dog Coalition, providing free wellness clinics for unhoused individuals and their pets. This partnership reflects her belief in extending care to those who may not have access to it otherwise, expressing the center's focus on compassion and inclusivity. Her goal and desire is to leave lasting positive ideas about the field of veterinary medicine while supporting the community.
