Question: Does the Village of Monee require any special actions when selling or renting a home in Monee?
Answer: A resale inspection is required for all real estate sales in the Village. In addition, an annual rental inspection is required for all rental properties in the Village & before a new tenant takes occupancy. All of these inspections can be scheduled by calling the Building Department at 708-534-8303.
Question: Is there a fee for the Resale or Rental Inspection?
Answer: Both the resale & rental inspection cost $50. We don’t accept payment over the phone so you must come into the Village to pay and schedule the inspection.

Answer: No the Village of Monee doesn’t require a real estate payment stamp or transfer stamp when selling a home.
Question: What are the allowable construction hours?
Answer: 7am to 10pm
Question: Does my contractor require a license?
Answer: Before a building permit is issued, all contractors & subcontractors listed on the permit must be licensed and insured with the Village.
Question: How do I schedule an inspection?
Answer: Please call the Building Department to schedule any required inspections. A contracted Building Inspector, certified with International Code Council, conducts the necessary inspections for the Village of Monee. The Building Department requires a 24 hour notice for such inspections. Inspections are performed during the Building Department’s normal business hours.
Question: What is the height restriction for grass/weeds?
Answer: 6 inches
Question: When can garbage containers & recycle totes be placed at the curb and when do garbage containers & recycle totes need to be removed from the curb?
Answer: Garbage containers & recycle totes can be put out the night before trash collection no earlier than 7pm & are to be brought back in no later than 7pm the day of collection. Also, all garbage containers & recycle totes shall not be stored in the front yards on non-trash days. They shall be stored behind a privacy fence or out of view from public areas.
Question: Can I place a mobile storage unit (e.g. POD) on my property, what is the time limitation and do I need a permit?
Answer: Yes, mobile storage containers shall not exceed sixteen (16) feet in length and shall not be placed on a property for more than fifteen (15) consecutive days, except for projects involving the construction of a facility at which time the container may be placed at the site until the expiration of the construction permit. It may not be placed in any unimproved yards, publicly owned rights-of-way or sidewalks. No person shall place mobile storage container upon their property for more than two (2) such 15-day periods per calendar year. Also, you need to go into the Village and get a permit, which is $25.
Question: Can I have a dumpster on my property and do I need a permit?
Answer: Yes, you can have a dumpster on your property, but you need to go into the Village and get a permit, which is $25. Roll-off dumpster or roll-off container shall not be placed on a property for more than fifteen (15) consecutive days. No person shall place a roll-off dumpster or roll-off container upon their property for more than two (2) such 15-day periods per calendar year. They must be placed on private property and MAY NOT be placed upon a public highway or right-of-way or public property without written approval by the Village to do so.
